Germany booked their place at next year’s World Cup with a ruthless 6-0 demolition of Slovakia, securing top spot in their group. Four first-half goals — from Nick Woltemade, Serge Gnabry, and a Leroy Sané brace — put the match out of reach before the break. Slovakia, who beat Germany earlier in the campaign, were overwhelmed and now face a playoff. Second-half goals from Ridle Baku and 19-year-old debutant Assan Ouédraogo capped Germany’s dominant display.
The Netherlands also qualified comfortably, beating Lithuania 4-0 in Amsterdam to finish three points clear in Group G. Tijjani Reijnders opened the scoring before Cody Gakpo, Xavi Simons and Donyell Malen added three quick goals after the break.
Poland claimed a 3-2 win in Malta thanks to a late Piotr Zielinski strike, securing a playoff berth. Robert Lewandowski and Pawel Wszolek also scored for the visitors.
Northern Ireland ended their campaign with a low-key 1-0 win over Luxembourg, courtesy of Jamie Donley’s first international goal from the penalty spot. Though the match was a dead rubber, they will still enter the playoffs due to their previous Nations League success.
Czech Republic, already assured of a playoff place, thrashed Gibraltar 6-0, scoring five before half-time. They finish behind group winners Croatia, who staged a dramatic comeback from 2-0 down to defeat Montenegro 3-2.
