De Niro Warns Trump “Will Never Leave”
Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro has once again spoken out against Donald Trump, warning that the president “will never leave” office voluntarily. Appearing on MS NOW ahead of Trump’s State of the Union address, De Niro argued that Americans must take action at the ballot box.
“He will never leave. We have to make him leave,” De Niro said, adding that Trump’s remarks about nationalizing elections should be taken seriously. The actor later attended a counter-event titled “State of the Swamp” at the National Press Club, where he told the audience he felt “betrayed by my country” and criticized what he described as authoritarian tendencies in US leadership.
Trump Fires Back on Social Media
Trump responded angrily on his Truth Social platform following the address, calling for several critics to be deported — including Democratic Representatives Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, both American citizens who interrupted his speech, as well as De Niro.
In his post, Trump labeled the actor “deranged” and accused him of making comments that were “seriously criminal,” while also taking aim at comedian Rosie O’Donnell, whom he has previously threatened with citizenship revocation despite longstanding Supreme Court precedent barring such action.
Polls Highlight Public Concerns
The heated exchange comes amid fresh polling that paints a mixed picture of Trump’s standing with voters. A Reuters/Ipsos survey found that 61 percent of Americans believe Trump has become erratic with age, including large majorities of Democrats and independents. Another poll conducted by The Washington Post, ABC News, and Ipsos showed 39 percent approval for his performance as president.
Separate findings suggest broad concern about the age of US political leaders overall, with nearly 80 percent of respondents agreeing that elected officials in Washington are too old to represent most Americans. The average age in the Senate currently stands at 64, and 58 in the House of Representatives.
White House spokesperson Davis Ingle dismissed the polling data as “fake and desperate narratives,” but the clash between Trump and one of his most outspoken celebrity critics underscores the deeply polarized political climate.
