Travis Japan, the rising boy band, is making waves internationally in 2025. The group is currently promoting their second album, VIIsual, which topped the Billboard Japan Hot Albums chart in December. Following their successful domestic tour in Japan, the band is set to embark on a second global tour, visiting Asia and the U.S. this summer. In a recent interview with Billboard Japan, the six members (with Noel currently on health leave) discussed their new singles “Say I Do” and “Tokyo Crazy Night,” shared insights from their first world tour, and talked about their plans for the upcoming global trek.
Travis Japan’s Growing Global Reach
Travis Japan is expanding its presence beyond Japan, with a busy 2025 ahead. After releasing VIIsual in December, the album quickly soared to the top of the Billboard Japan Hot Albums chart. In January, the group began their domestic Travis Japan Concert Tour 2025 VIIsual, which takes them to eight cities across Japan. The boy band is also gearing up for their second world tour, which will include stops in Asia and the U.S. this summer.
Reflections on the 2024 World Tour
Last fall, Travis Japan embarked on their first world tour, the Travis Japan World Tour 2024: Road to A. The group visited six cities worldwide, connecting with international fans for the first time. For many members, this experience was both a dream come true and a learning opportunity.
Shizu shared, “We toured six cities and had the chance to interact with our fans outside of Japan. It was a valuable experience that helped us grow both personally and as a group.” Shime added, “It was our first global tour, so I was both excited and nervous. The fans’ reactions, however, were incredible. They even taught us some local phrases, which made the experience even more memorable.”
Chaka reflected on the anticipation leading up to the tour: “We’ve always wanted to tour globally since our debut, and when it finally happened, we were filled with excitement and a bit of anxiety. But the support from our fans gave us the confidence to perform, and the experience was truly rewarding.”
Learning From Fans and Gaining New Insights
The tour also gave Travis Japan the chance to experience different cultures and connect with fans in a way they hadn’t before. Genta shared, “Every city we visited offered something new, from the culture to the food. It was challenging but rewarding. I’m excited for future tours and the chance to keep learning and expanding our reach.”
Umi expressed how the global tour gave him a deeper understanding of the worldwide fanbase. “It was incredible to see how many people support us internationally. We realized how vast the world is and how much more we have to explore.”
A Shift in Sound: “Say I Do” and “Tokyo Crazy Night”
Travis Japan’s latest singles, “Say I Do” and “Tokyo Crazy Night,” showcase a shift in their musical style, blending new genres while staying true to their pop roots.
Umi described “Say I Do” as a departure from their usual style, saying, “This song is different for us. It’s a love song that opens up emotionally, which is something we haven’t explored much before. I’m excited for fans to hear this side of us.”
Machu agreed, adding, “The song’s lyrics are very direct, and the melody is catchy. It’s easy to sing along to, and I think our fans will really connect with it.”
Shizu praised the song’s upbeat, pop sound: “It’s a feel-good track that makes people happy, and I think that’s what fans will love about it.”
“Say I Do” is also the theme song for Honnou Switch, a drama series starring Chaka. He shared, “The lyrics fit perfectly with the drama’s story. The song reflects the emotions of the two characters and their love for each other. It was exciting to bring this new side of Travis Japan to life in the drama.”
The second single, “Tokyo Crazy Night,” is the theme for Tokyo Camouflage Hour, a drama starring Machu. He described the song as a retro-style city pop track, saying, “It’s a genre we’ve never tried before, and it matches the cool vibe of the drama. It’s a fun song, and I’m excited for fans to see us in this new light.”
Shime added, “The chorus is really catchy, and the rhythm of the song is so much fun. I hope our fans will sing it with as much energy as we do.”
Looking Ahead to the 2025 World Tour
Travis Japan’s second world tour is set to kick off this summer, building on the lessons learned from their first global trek. The group is already planning how to make this tour even better, with more interactive moments for fans.
Machu shared, “This time, we can plan ahead and include fan sections during the concert. We want to engage with our audience even more and make this year’s global tour unforgettable.”
Genta emphasized the importance of sharing their new music, including their recent singles, with fans around the world: “We want to deliver not only our performances but also the fresh appeal of our new songs. Our fans have been waiting for us, and we can’t wait to thank them with these new tracks.”
