Iran Warns U.S. and Israel: Will Strike Bases if Attacked Over Houthi Missile Incident

Iran’s defense minister has warned that the country will strike back if the United States or Israel launches any attack. The warning comes amid rising tension after a missile from Yemen’s Houthi rebels landed near Israel’s main airport.

Iran Issues Strong Warning

On Sunday, Iranian Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh said Iran will respond to any military action from the United States or Israel.

“If this war is started by the U.S. or Israel, Iran will strike their bases, interests, and forces—wherever and whenever needed,” Nasirzadeh told Iranian state television.

His remarks came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel would retaliate for the Houthi missile attack. The missile, which was launched from Yemen, landed near Ben Gurion Airport, Israel’s busiest airport.

What Happened in Israel?

Yemen’s Houthi rebels, who are backed by Iran, claimed responsibility for the missile. They said the attack was a show of support for Palestinians in Gaza. The missile did not cause damage or injuries but raised major security concerns.

Netanyahu responded on social media, saying, “These attacks by the Houthis come from Iran. Israel will respond to this strike on our airport, and to Iran, in our own way and time.”

Iran Denies Controlling Houthis

Iran’s defense minister insisted that the Houthis act on their own. He echoed Iran’s usual claim that the country only gives moral and political support, not direct military control.

“The Houthis act on their own goals and beliefs,” Nasirzadeh said. But he also made clear that Iran would consider U.S. bases in the region as targets if any military action is taken.

A History of Attacks

This is not the first time the Houthis have attacked Israel. Since the conflict in Gaza began in late 2023, the group has launched several drones and missiles toward Israeli targets. These attacks have often been intercepted, but they continue to raise alarms.

In response, the U.S. has carried out airstrikes on Houthi bases in Yemen. These strikes have been ongoing since March 15. Former U.S. President Donald Trump recently said that Iran should be held responsible for all actions taken by the Houthis.

Iran Reveals New Missile

On the same day as Nasirzadeh’s statement, Iran revealed a new missile. Named “Qassem Bassir,” the missile can travel up to 1,200 kilometers (750 miles). It uses solid fuel, which means it can be launched faster and with less setup time. Iranian state media reported that this missile adds to the country’s long-range attack abilities.

Rising Middle East Tensions

This recent exchange adds to growing tension in the Middle East. Iran and Israel have a long history of hostility. The ongoing war in Gaza has further worsened relations.

The United States, which supports Israel, has troops and military bases across the region. Iran has repeatedly warned that any attack on its soil will bring a strong response, not just against the attacker but also against its allies and regional bases.

Regional Impact

Countries in the region are now watching the situation closely. Many fear that a single wrong move could lead to a wider war. The Gulf states, especially those with U.S. bases, are also worried about being caught in the crossfire.

So far, the missile strikes have not caused major destruction. However, each new attack increases the risk of escalation. Both Iran and Israel have advanced missile systems. Any military exchange between them could cause serious damage and affect the whole region.

What Comes Next?

As of now, neither Israel nor the U.S. has taken direct military action against Iran for the latest Houthi missile attack. But statements from both sides suggest that more conflict could be coming. Many international observers are urging restraint.

Iran says it wants peace with its neighbors but will not allow foreign attacks. The U.S. and Israel, on the other hand, say they must respond to threats against their citizens and allies.

The coming days will be important. Governments, diplomats, and military officials are all on alert.
