A sudden power outage struck parts of Paris and Hauts-de-Seine on Thursday morning, cutting electricity to 55,000 homes.
The blackout also shut down traffic lights and streetlights, disrupting movement across affected neighbourhoods.
Several metro and suburban train lines stopped operating as the outage spread through key transit systems.
Enedis reported that the blackout lasted about five minutes before power returned to most areas.
A few thousand homes, however, remained without electricity after the initial restoration.
Technical Failure Identified
Enedis said a technical incident at the RTE substation in Issy-les-Moulineaux triggered the widespread outage.
RTE oversees France’s high-voltage electricity transmissions and works with Enedis during such disruptions.
The incident impacted several circuits simultaneously, causing the brief but significant power loss.
Engineers moved quickly to reroute supply and restore service to most households.
