The 20th Western China International Fair opened on Sunday in Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan Province in southwest China. This large international event has attracted more than 3,000 companies from 62 countries and regions. The fair displays the latest technologies and a wide range of products, aiming to strengthen global trade connections and cooperation.
This year’s fair features two guest countries of honor for the first time. Laos presents products including tea, coffee, furniture, and handicrafts, while Hungary showcases 17 companies focused on wine, medical devices, and eco-friendly water treatment technologies. The event serves as a platform for business matchmaking, investment partnerships, and information exchange among enterprises from these countries and beyond.
Indonesian exhibitor Fransisca Pauline Tjandra is participating for the first time and is presenting handmade accessories. She also runs workshops on crafts like shell necklaces to introduce Indonesian handicrafts to more Chinese visitors. To prepare, she learned basic Chinese phrases to better communicate during the fair.
Hosted by the Sichuan provincial government, the fair will continue through Thursday. It plays an important role in promoting regional market integration and expanding trade links between China and countries worldwide. The event reflects China’s increasing influence in global trade and offers companies opportunities to explore new markets and partnerships.
